Abstract: The recent
merger of enterprise resource planning vendors CMS Software (now known as Solarsoft Business Systems) and XKO Software presents some challenges. Although little overlap exists between the companies’ product lines, customers should verify that pre-
merger support and service contracts are honored.

Abstract: While the higher end of ERP market has (surprisingly) experienced only limited merger & acquisition activity during 2000 (mainly seen in ERP losers been devoured by ERP outsiders), the mid-market has seen more significant intra-market activity. The latest one was the merger between Navision Software and Damgaard.
Abstract: April 2011 saw the merger of Epicor and Activant Solutions to create a global leader in business software solutions. TEC principal analyst P. J. Jakovljevic sits down with CMO John Hiraoka to discuss the opportunities and challenges created by the merger and the potential synergy of the combined company, Epicor Software Corporation, to grow a wide range of products and industries, a very ambitious yet difficult-to-realize strategy.

Abstract: The CMS Software-XKO Software merger into Solarsoft Business Solutions offers proof that smaller enterprise resource planning vendors are not extinct yet. Perhaps in the grand scheme of things, no one should really care about such events, but these less well-known vendors haven’t said their last words yet.
Abstract: Other than for the peculiarity of a ‘love triangle’, the merger of SynQuest, Viwlocity and Tilion might be a harbinger of SCEM’s annexation by the realm of SCM, in which case, with a similar phenomenon of ERP absorbing MRP over a decade ago, history would repeat itself.
Abstract: The Lawson and Intentia merger might create a much-needed, strong statement for the market, and provide the mid-market with more options. It may also decrease the negative momentum both companies have experienced in the frenzied and rapidly consolidating enterprise applications market.
Abstract: Like previous SSA Global's acquisitions, this merger too seems aimed at enlarging the existing customer base, market share, and, more importantly, the predictably recurring support revenue and consequently larger R&D pool.
Abstract: While the merger is justifiable it does not provide the new entity with much room for mistakes. SynQuest also needs to quickly figure out the best combination of its disparate products and technologies and articulate a clear and assuring message to the market that it can deliver a strategy for the planning, executing, and adaptive management of supply chains in a foreseeable future.
Abstract: When the first Kenneth David Apparel store opened in 1992, the company could manage operations with an accounting solution alone. But as new stores opened, the company needed software to scale with growth—not only on the retail side, but design and manufacture too. Its new solution has e-commerce and point-of-sale features, and allows the company more insight for more effective management. Read more about the benefits.
Abstract: The Washington Post Company (WPC) needed a system to manage tax and asset depreciation from 25 companies, while allowing each company to independently add fixed assets and generate reports. With more than 100,000 fixed assets throughout the company, this was no minor task. But with the new Web-hosted fixed assets management solution, WPC accesses all data in real time, saving time and ensuring accuracy. Find out how.
Abstract: With 10 remote office locations spread across nine states, Amerisure was in need of a communications platform that would enable the company to enhance the distribution of information to employees. Employees located in satellite offices, with no direct access to the home office, can feel disconnected from corporate headquarters’ operations and activities. Amerisure needed to communicate to employees in a timely manner that would allow the flow of accurate, important information, whether that data be employee-specific, such as salary, job, or benefit information, or company news and updates. In addition to a centralized communication platform, the company wanted heightened management of its workforce through the use of business intelligence tools that would allow it to track trends and have improved monitoring capabilities for each location.
Abstract: Recent product releases and a profitable quarterly report from Navision, a recently merger-formed and rebranded Danish provider of enterprise business solutions for mid-sized companies, could be telling us that the company has been unfazed by the merger with Damgaard and the current difficult economic conditions.
Abstract: In February, NavisionDamgaard, a recently merger-formed Danish provider of enterprise business solutions for mid-sized companies, released its first semi-annual report. While the merger has produced satisfactory initial results, the future nevertheless bears challenges.
Abstract: While owing to a number of similar products and to former competition between the merging parties this merger has a merit of growth by acquisition in a slow growing (or even declining) EDI-VAN market, the merger of Inovis and QRS may well emphasize some interesting dynamics within the retail market segment.
Abstract: Consider the case of two hypothetical companies—Company A and Company Z—each using an identical enterprise software package delivering identical core functionality. Company A has the same number of users, but the total cost of ownership (TCO) experienced by Company Z is about twice the TCO enjoyed by Company A. Why? We explain.
Abstract: Every so often we hear about companies being sued by their former employees for alleged unfair or illegal HR practices. Whether the claims relate to sexual harassment or inadequate compensation, one thing is for sure: they will cost your company money and may even bring about its demise. TEC analyst Sherry Fox looks at four things your company can do to establish best practices in HR and thus avoid damaging HR lawsuits.
Abstract: Haynes Wire Company produces wire for structural and welding applications as well as medical.
